Ending the drudgery of the morning commute to work is the dream of millions of workers. Technology is now making the option of working from home viable and more and more of us are taking that option.
But what of the practicalities? How easy is it to set up and run a home office?
Firstly you should consider whether you will actually thrive away from the big office environment. The last thing you want to do is become a miserable hermit.
Secondly ask whether you can self motivate. After lunch it is all too easy to walk away from the desk flop on the sofa and watch Judge Judy on for an hour when there is nobody to tell you not to. Remember that you are still on the clock and being paid by your employer.
Equally it is all too easy to carry on working till much later at night because you don’t have the 5.30pm exodus of colleagues, reminding you that there is more to life than finishing off yet another report.
However, it must be said, for those people of the right temperament, working from home has so many benefits. You save time, money, effort, relationships and your sense of well-being sky-rockets. You can also find that the quality of the work you do improves noticeably which will always please the boss. 오피
In terms of technology, all you really need is a broadband connection, a mobile phone and a laptop. With this simple set-up you can be working from home the very next day after the boss agrees.
However the kitchen table really is not designed for long bouts of office work and the kitchen chairs are going to ruin your back if you sit on them for 40 hours per week.
It is much more sensible to find a corner of the house, the loft, the basement or an outbuilding and create a proper home office with proper office furniture and most importantly a proper ergonomic chair. This is not a luxury, but a necessity. Office furniture such as cupboards are needed because despite dreams of the paperless office we are not there yet. A proper chair is essential because otherwise you will end up in hospital and the fault will be yours alone.
Make the environment pleasant. Fresh paint in calm neutral tones helps to give you the right atmosphere. The lighting at home is generally lower than in an office. However you will be reading a lot so consider higher lumen output bulbs or adding additional lights for your office area to stop you suffering eyestrain.
Make sure the temperature is comfortable. Not only is this important to thinking clearly, but it also has a strong effect on your moods. If your home office is too cold and you will simply hate getting up in the mornings to go downstairs to work.
